Mixed martial arts – a skill that needs die hard training! You are hitting and kicking punching bags to increase your striking skills. This heavy exercising must exhaust you quickly. Try burn machine and get same strength with lesser work out.

You can practice punching with burn machine speed bag. Foremost positive attribute of speed bag is compact and light weight structure. So this portable machine can travel with you and you don’t need to miss your work out session. Mixed martial arts is a combination of striking, grappling and traditional/ non-traditional martial arts. So, upper body strength without much of bulk is required to be a mixed martial artist.

Burn machine is apt way to get upper body strength for martial arts enthusiasts as intermediate speed bag weighs only 8 lbs for beginners and even women can work out with it. It helps in developing your core muscles and increasing shoulder strength. The 360 degrees rotating grip improves hand eye coordination and hand speed.

Another unit of burn machine that comes with asymmetrical burn counterweight is Cross Trainer. This machine gives you all benefits of speed bag burn machine including counterweight which you can position as per your requirements. So, a mixed martial artist can use the counterweight to put extra stress on a particular side of the body.

Cross trainer keeps your body cardio conditioned. If your body is free of cardio stress, you will have a controlled breath, which in turn increase your stamina. And the rotational grip provides strength to your hand and forearm so that you can knock the opponent out!

Ultimate burn machine is useful for mixed martial artist advanced training as it improves the core strength and rotating handles and asymmetric barbell concentrates on multiple muscle groups

While fighting, you tend to get injured. And burn machine plays an important role in curing injuries, especially elbow and shoulder injuries. During the initial stage, paramedics use speed bag and cross trainer on a later stage. And they play around with the counterweight to put stress on required part of the body. Burn machine is useful exercise equipment whether you are starting with mixed martial arts or getting injured as a professional martial artist.

David Haye and Dereck Chisora are to face each other in a fight sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation on 14 July at Upton Park.

At a heated news conference, the British heavyweights exchanged insults as Haye vowed to beat Chisora.

The two fighters were involved in a brawl following Chisora`s defeat by Vitali Kltschko in Munich in February.

The British Boxing Board of Control will not sanction the fight because neither man holds a British licence.

Speaking at the conference, where the two fighters were separated by a steel fence, Haye said: “He is the ideal opponent for me. I am so glad he has got a good chin because if he didn’t have a good chin he would be blasted out in first round.

“I tried to knock him out in Munich and this is the opportunity to shut him up.”

The 31-year-old Haye added: “This is definitely personal. We genuinely don’t like each other. He has threatened to break my jaw, he has threatened to slap me.

“This fight is about eradicating boxing of an idiot. I will give him a nice, slow, concussive beating.”

Chisora, who was surrounded by eight security guards, said: “I don’t like him.

“Talk is cheap now. That was a lucky shot he hit me with in Munich. Your talk is cheap. You always talk but you don’t deliver in the ring.

The two men, whose news-conference clash three months ago is still being investigated by Munich police, revealed they had seen each other in London recently, with Chisora accusing Haye of having “pulled a knife”. Haye responded: “I was eating a steak. It was in a restaurant.”

Chisora had his licence withdrawn after a number of controversial incidents before and after the Klitschko fight – but he has appealed against the decision

Among the controversies, the 28-year-old slapped Klitschko at the weigh -in and spat water at the Ukrainian’s brother Wladimir before the contest.

Haye relinquished his licence when he retired in October last year three months after losing his losing his WBA title to Wladimir in Hamburg.

Chisora’s manager Frank Warren had previously said he would not go ahead with a fight between the two boxers.

However, he said he had changed his mind because Chisora appeal against his licence withdrawal had been “pushed back to July”.

Warren said: “What [Chisora] did was stupid and there should be some sort of punishment. But he will be out of action for six months and will lose money. Why should he not make a living?”

Chisora was granted a licence to fight by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation but Warren added that “a number of commissions” had been willing to do so.

Warren said he would not be taking a commission from Chisora for the fight, but would make money as a “shareholder” in the BoxNation subscription channel that will air the fight.

When asked whether holding the event might threaten his own licence as a promoter with the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC), Warren said he hoped the organisation would not hold it against him.

“What I’m doing is legal and lawful,” he said. “I have a managerial contract with Chisora, I have legal obligations to him and I won’t have these compromised by the British Boxing Board of Control.

“When they made their decision, they said he was able to apply for a licence in another jurisdiction. That was said at the hearing, and that is what he’s done.”

Rival boxing promoter Frank Maloney told the BBC the fight “undermines the authority” of the BBBoC.

He said: “It’s like the [English] FA. Would we see the Luxembourg FA coming over to the UK and starting their own league?

“If these two had not had the punch-up, no-one would talk about them.”

He also said the BBBoC had “handled it wrong” and should have banned Chisora completely, instead of refusing to grant him a licence.

“If he was banned, the boards in Europe would have to follow and not give him a licence,” he said.

* Briton still wanted by German police for brawl (Updates with details, background)

Heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko announced on Saturday a much-awaited fight with Briton David Haye for the WBC crown without specifying a date or location.

“I can announce that my next fight will be with David Haye,” Klitschko told a 50,000 crowd at the Esprit Arena immediately after his brother Vladimir knocked out Jean-Marc Mormeck to retain his WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO crowns.

Haye, who retired in October, had been wanting to fight Klitschko after losing his WBA belt to Vladimir last July.

He was also involved in a post-fight brawl with Dereck Chisora after the former Commonwealth champion had lost his fight to Vitali on Feb 19 on points and is wanted by German police for questioning.

The British boxer said on Twitter: “Vitali has just finally agreed to fight me in a live RTL (television) interview. He told me I will be his next fight. Let’s get ready to rumble.”

The Klitschkos twice had fights with Haye called off in the past years after they failed to agree on the details for a unification fight before the ‘Hayemaker’ lost to Vladimir in July 2011.

Should the fight go ahead it could be 40-year-old Vitali’s last after announcing before taking on Chisora that he planned to fight “a couples of times more” before retiring.

Haye, who turned heavyweight in 2008 after a cruiserweight career that started in 2002, could face problems fighting in Germany – the Ukrainian brothers’ base – after leaving the country following the brawl with Chisora, who was briefly detained and questioned by police.

Haye, 31, had been attending the bout and news conference as a television pundit and exchanged comments with Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente and Chisora.

Chisora got up to confront him and the pair traded blows with Haye’s manager Adam Booth suffering a cut head.

Haye, who has won 25 fights and lost two, said he fled Germany due to the death threats he received from Chisora before adding he would “happily assist the boxing authorities with any investigation they wish to launch”.

The practice of combat arts requires high levels of fitness. To achieve this standard,

one must commit to a rigorous training regime involving the use of specialised fitness

tools to build up strength and endurance. Over time you may however find to your

frustration that your fitness levels ‘plateau’ as your routine becomes predictable and

less challenging, preventing you from maximising your fitness and performance.

The good news is that there are many ways to break through this plateau, enabling

would experience with standard weights.

This is where Macebell training comes in!

Originating from Asia, the Macebell is an ancient form of weapon with a heavyweighted

ball attached to the end of a pole made out of steel. It is available in

different sizes ranging from 5 to 15 kilos. It features a xx inch long handle – if you

haven’t seen one before, it’s a long combination of a kettlebell and a gym hammer!

You may think Macebells are old s

you to achieve greater results and continue to adapt. One way is of course to

increase the weight you use, changing your exercises regularly and taking part in

sports or activities your body isn’t familiar with. The other option is to lift odd objects

where the centre of the mass isn’t in a balanced position throughout the lift, as you

chool but these ancient forms of weapons, which

were used in battles to swipe opponents off horses, have also been used for

centuries for balance training across all forms of martial arts.

Training with a Macebell will challenge and flex muscles you rarely use. We therefore

recommend that you begin training with a 5 kilo Macebell initially, ensuring you do

appropriate warm-up exercises to avoid tearing muscles.

The selection of exercises to help train muscles with a Macebell is countless. If you

are not familiar with Macebells, we recommend YouTube as a great source of

information for exercises – especially if you intend to work-out from home.

Here is a video worth watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUFAEkzI404. UFC

Champion Josh Barnett also offers good advice:

http://www.youtube.cov=m/watch?cGiViWFzsaA.

The benefits of training with a Macebell are wide-ranging; from improving your

balance and strengthening your core muscles and grip, to boosting your shoulder

mobility and general overall endurance!

If you already train with Macebells, please share some of your routines with us

Plyometric training is a staple in nearly every athlete’s training program, used to improve jumping ability and athleticism. But a relatively recent study in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research says there may be a more effective form of training. In the study, researchers compared 10 weeks of short sprint training with 10 weeks of plyometric training using a variety of performance tests. A summary of the training program can be found in Table 1 at the end of the article. The results indicated that sprint training may result in greater strength, power, and jumping adaptations than plyometric training. A summary of the results can be found in Table 2 at the end of the article.

The researchers speculate that the difference in testing results between sprint training and plyometric training lies in the mechanism of the training adaptations. Sprint training resulted in improved jumping, strength, sprinting, and agility performance primarily through increased leg strength and power. However, there were no associated increases in leg strength or power for the plyometric training group, leading researchers to conclude that plyometric training improves jumping performance by developing muscle coordination.

The author’s conclusion, that sprint and plyometric training improve jumping performance through different mechanisms is interesting. It would not be a stretch to say that there may be an added benefit from combined sprint and plyometric training when the goal is to improve jumping performance. Essentially you would perform sprint training to improve leg strength and explosive power and plyometric training to improve nervous system coordination. Look for a future article with a combined sprint and plyometrics training program.

(12-0, 8 KO’s) had an easy time in beating 5’11” southpaw challenger Kris Hughes

(15-2, 1 KO’s) on Saturday night at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London, UK.

Frampton, 24, used his speed and power advantage to pummel the taller, weaker Hughes from the start of the fight and Hughes was never really able to get into the fight due to his lack of power.

In the 7th, Frampton put Hughes down with a right hand. The fight was then halted by referee Mark Green.

Frampton is a possibility for the undercard of the March 17th fight between Matthew Macklin and Sergio Martinez.
